At five and a half, Ollie continues to amaze us with his speech & developmental advances, growth and general awesomeness just about daily. He has this incredible, laid-back personality and he is truly- and I'm not saying this just because I'm his mom- one of the coolest people I have the pleasure of knowing. He loves meeting new friends at the park or playground - kids and adults alike- and is often known to walk up to strangers, pat his chest, and say, "I'm Ol-i-ver"
Ollie's latest favorites are: Trains (we have just about every friend of Thomas at this point); Race Cars (after watching Nascar on TV the other day he's become obsessed with #2 and Go Daddy); & Monster Trucks (sometimes he goes onto Amazon and scouts out the next monster truck he wants when he finishes his current sticker chart. Usually puts it in the cart for good measure.)
O has the greatest sense of humor. It's really like no humor I've ever heard from a kid. Por ejemplo, recently he was asking me if we could have steak for dinner and I must have been busy with something else because I didn't answer him the first couple of times he asked. Finally he took my face in his hands and asked again, "Mom, we have steak fo' dinna?" and then he whispered, "say 'yes'"
Also, in the picture below of him sitting in the Adirondack chair, he was telling my friend Heather and me that his juice was so tasssstttttyyyy and he was saying it in this hilarious voice that made us laugh... so naturally he continued to do it.
Ollie's favorite summer activity so far (for the second year running, I might add) is playing with the hose. He could honestly do it for hours, and he tires himself out from all the giggling and squealing.
Ollie, you are the sweetest, most loving, kind-hearted little man and I honestly wonder sometimes what on Earth I did right to deserve a love like you. You fill me with joy from the minute I see your sleepy face in our doorway each morning all the way to when I kiss you after you've fallen asleep each night. I am so, so incredibly proud of the person you are becoming and I am truly in awe of your spirit and determination.
Bugaloo, I love you more than anything... but you already know that, don't you?
Happy Half Birthday, my sweet boy!
Love, love extra love,
Mama
