It's a girl! I'm still in shock, I think. Everyone- and I mean Ev.Ry.One, predicted that we were having a boy. Strangers walked up to me and said, "Boy, right?" And so I kind of just had it in my mind that it would be a boy. To be honest, I was a little peeved by all of the outside gender prediction. We left it as a surprise for a reason, and once I had it in my head that it would be a boy, I felt like that was taking the surprise away.
When I was in delivery, the doctor walked in (I go to a practice with several doctors and the one who delivers is by luck of the scheduling chart- in fact, all three of my kids had different doctors deliver) and said, "Well, let's get this little boy out!" Jon and I looked at each other, and the nurse quickly said, "They don't know what they are having!" The doctor said something like, "Oh, I never know what the gender is, I always say, 'little boy' haha" I was sure she was just covering her tracks.
And so, when Dylan was born, it truly was the surprise that we had wanted all along- I'll never forget the excitement of the moment when they announced, "A little GIRL!" I must have said, "I can't believe she's a girl!" a hundred times over the course of the next few hours.

Dylan was known as "Baby Girl" for 32 hours- we honestly could not pick a name for her! When I finally suggested Dylan, we could almost hear a choir singing- it was perfect!
At one point, I unwrapped Dylan from her blankets and Peyton said, "Ah! Look at her little boobies! Boobies, boobies boobies!"
Ollie was unsure about her from the start. He's getting more used to her day by day, though. He also could be mad that we didn't name her Spiderman, as was his suggestion.
When we first got home, I looked at my three (THREE) kids and had a mini panic attack, like, what have I done?... But now that we are six days in, we're getting into a groove and- though we still have our crazy moments- I'm finally excited about what we have to come.
I'll work on a more extensive birth story to share with you all. For now, I've just got to go snuggle with my girl. Today she is six days old and I'm trying to force myself to remember every second of this newness- I know from experience how very easy is is to forget as you move on to new phases. But gosh, this little girl is the absolute sweetest thing, and I can't even begin to describe how much I love her.
Thank you all for your well wishes and sharing in the excitement with us. Jon and I have been absolutely blown away by the kindness of our family and friends!
PS: I really was surprised by how fast it all happened. I posted this picture on Instagram in the morning... and about 14 hours later she was here!
