october!

I'd like to say I waited until October to take down all of my summer decorations to switch out for the Fall, but to be honest, we have a serious Halloween/Autumn obsession going on around here (no, seriously, Peyton has been carrying a rolled-up copy of the Halloween Oriental Trading Catalog like it's her most special treasure since August), so these have been up for a while. The only problem is that Ollie and Peyton have been asking since mid-September when we can dress in our costumes (also out since September...) and go out for "Spooky Night"

The kiddos and I have broken out our favorite Halloween books, like Room on the Broom and The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. And even though it's too scary for Ollie, Peyton and I have watched Hocus Pocus a few times and- hooray!- she loves it as much as I do :) 

Other than that, we've been celebrating the season with this Tomato Bisque (I'm not joking, it'll KNOCK your SOCKS off, it's that good- Jon hates tomato soup but he actually cheers when he sees me making this soup... And also, if you haven't figured it out by now, I'm obsessed with this woman's website- I've made just about every recipe and they are all awesome) and these Pumpkin Raisin Muffins. 

This weekend, my friend Kayla is taking some family photos for us and then are headed to the pumpkin patch and possibly to the farm for our fix of apples and animals. 

Why can't Fall last forever?!
