pixie doodle: halfway to four.

When I first did the text on that picture, I wrote 2 1/2... I honestly can't believe my Peyton-girl is halfway to FOUR. That said, I do believe we are over a hump (a frustrating, slightly annoying, gray-hair-causing hump...) and I'm so excited about what's to come!

At three and a half, Peyton's personality is stronger than ever: extra-friendly and outgoing, an animal lover extraordinaire (all things slimy & scaly, feathered & furry... pretty much anything but bees!), and extremely theatrical (yesterday I found her in her room spinning with her arms spread out, eyes closed,  saying, "This is my life, my life is beautiful")

She pretty much never stops talking, yet still has some adorable spins on words (what is known areound here as Peytonese): "chewbruf"= toothbrush, "weewax"= relax, "spicety"= anything too salty or spicy. She is known to calm herself down by stating: "I need a' take a bref" and if something is pleasing, it's "berry good" Her favorite foods are "stawbees" "fwaffles" and "s'pasta"

Peyton LIVES for attention, and often resorts to annoying Ollie to get it, which can lead to some huge battles. And yet, if you ask either of them who their best friend is, they will immediately say the other's name. And every night, after books and kisses and hugs, and before I shut her door, she will say: "Mommy, let's say our family: Mommy, Daddy, Awey-Awey, Peyton and Zoe... that's our family. And I love you so much"
She often talks about growing up and getting bigger, and always wants to help: sweeping, washing windows, baking (she's an expert egg-cracker!) switching laundry into the drier... you name it!
Peytie-girl, I cannot believe how big you are getting. You make me laugh every day, and I love watching the world through your eyes! You are so curious about everything, from the discovery of an cracked and empty robin's egg ("But what happened?") to a colony of ants (you could watch them work for hours) to the cycle of life: one time, we saw a large spider dragging a worm across some rocks. "Spider gonna eat him? He gonna share wif his family? The worm just a baby?" you wanted to know... And when we saw that the worm got away, you rocked him in a cradle made by your hands and told him you intended on giving him some fwaffles.

My Peyton Pixie Pie, I do love you so very much! Happy half-birthday, sweet girl!

Love love extra love,
Mama
