the north pole express

After last summer's trip to North Conway to see Thomas, both Ollie and Peyton begged to go on the "Santa Train" this Christmas. I bought the tickets back in September (they sold out in a day!) and the kids have been so excited to go for months. So when Ollie started coming down with a little something on Tuesday night- the night before our scheduled trip- I was so upset that he was going to miss out.

I am working on a separate post about Ollie and illness (and how even a small cold can lower his seizure threshold) but long story short, he rallied and didn't have to miss out on the Santa Train! Because of the seizures and extra meds we had to give him, he was a little sensitive to the lights and especially the noise, so- as you can see in some of the pictures- he wore his mufflers for most of the ride. But he sang carols and danced his little buns off and most importantly, asked Santa if he could have his elves make the elusive Go Daddy #5 Nascar for him (Santa's got his elves working on it, btw ;)

And Little Miss? Well, she had the time of her life: singing and looking at the lights, drinking cocoa and eating cookies that Mrs. Claus made... and asking Santa for "a bolcano, a t-rex, and a 'ceratops" Most especially because she got to sit (and jump) with her little bestie, Maeve.
